18 Years, One Kind of Work
We are not general remodelers who also do bathrooms. We remove bathtubs and put in things that are safer to get into. That's the whole business.
Detroit Tub to Shower Conversion is a Detroit Tubs company, working across Wayne, Oakland and Macomb County. Over 18 years we've handled cast iron tubs out of 1920s Detroit bungalows, fiberglass units out of Macomb Township colonials, and everything between. Doing one thing repeatedly is what lets us quote accurately over the phone and finish in a day.
What We Believe About This Work
The cheapest solution that actually works is the right solution. If a $1,550 cutout solves your problem, we'll tell you that, even standing in a bathroom where we could have sold you a $12,995 tub. We've built 18 years of referrals on exactly that.
A fixed price, before we start. Not an hourly rate, not a range, not a number that moves once the wall is open. If we find something genuinely unexpected behind the tile — it happens in century-old homes — we stop and talk to you before we spend your money.
One day, and your house stays liveable. Nobody should be without a bathroom for a week. We work inside the tub footprint, we cover the floors, and we haul everything away.
Grab bars go into blocking. Not toggle bolts into drywall. A grab bar that pulls out of the wall is worse than no grab bar at all, because someone trusted it.
Why This Matters in Metro Detroit Specifically
This region has extraordinarily old housing stock. Large parts of Detroit, Highland Park, Hamtramck, Wyandotte and the Grosse Pointes were built before 1940, with deep cast iron tubs set into plaster walls, sometimes on a second floor at the top of a narrow staircase. Meanwhile Warren, Roseville, Livonia and Taylor are full of post-war ranches with near-identical bathrooms, and Shelby, Novi and Macomb Township have 1990s masters with corner garden tubs nobody has filled since the Clinton administration.
Those are four genuinely different jobs. Knowing which one you have before we arrive is most of what 18 years buys you.

Licensed, Insured, and Local
We're licensed and insured, we carry our own crews rather than subcontracting to whoever is available, and we're reachable at a Michigan phone number where a person answers. Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM.
We're also an authorized Ella's Bubbles dealer, which means warranty work is handled by us locally rather than by a call center.
